Benefits - Grocery Harvest Kits

We have taken great care in selecting the right seeds and tools to help you save money on groceries.  Here are some of the benefits of using our Grocery Harvest Kits.

Q. Can I Really Save Hundreds Of Dollars On My Groceries?

Yes.  Eating more fruits and vegetables is recommended for better health.  Grocery store prices can cost you $1-$2 per day per person.  So your savings could be between $30-$60 per person per month.  Even at $1 per person per day, with only as little as 6 months of growing, a 2 person household could save $365 for the year.  Of course, if you eat more than the $1 per day and / or have more people in your household your savings could be much greater.as much as

Q. Why Is It Better If I Grow My Own Food?

There are many benefits to growing your own fruits and vegetables.  Here are just a few:
  1. You pick your food "farm fresh" when it is ready.
  2. You control what (or if any) chemicals are used on your food.  So you need not be concerned with pesticides, wax coatings to preserve freshness, dye to enhance appearance or additives of any kind.
  3. When you pick fresh to eat right away there is no need to have a large quantity to store in the refrigerator.  So there is much less waste due to spoilage.

Q. How Does Growing My Own Fruits And Vegetables Cut Down On Waste?

If you are like many people who only grocery shop once every week or 2, you by all your fresh fruits and vegetables at that same time then put them in the refrigerator until you are ready for them.  Unfortunately, by the time we get around to using that produce, we find that it is no longer fresh so we end up throwing much of it away an going grocery shopping again to get the same thing we just threw out.  By some estimates, that can be as much as $10 wasted every 2 weeks!  Stop wasting mioney!  Grow your own FRESH with our Harvest Garden Kits!

Q. How Much Space Do I Need To Grow?

Space needed will depend on several factors such as how much you would like o harvest to meet your needs, whether you are growing indoors or out, conditions of light / heat / moisture, and planting medium (soil, hydroponic solutions, aeroponic solution).  A quick answer is that in soil whether indoors or out, a total surface area of ground or containers of 100 square-feet would give you a good start.  Careful attention to planning, replanting and occasional care will give you pretty good yields.

Q. How Will I Know When Food Is Ready To Harvest?

We provide charts and instructions tht will give you approximate time to maturity.  This will vary based on your growing conditions.

Q. What Can I Do If My Harvest Is Too Big?

That's really a good problem to have!  Our instructions provide some ideas and you can visit the HerbWits.com Community pages for recipes, preservation suggestions and more.  And of course, you coud always share with a family member, friend or community food shelf that needs help.
